run

Today was my cardio day. Like I said, I've needed to give the Zumba a break, because it was hurting my knees. I walked briskly on Monday, and set out this morning intending to do the same. But at one point, a ball came into my path that had gotten away from the guys kicking it around. I jogged to get to it before it went into the street, and my body was like, "Yes!" And I was like, "Really?" But there was no denying it. My body wanted to be pushed a bit harder. So I ran for a bit, walked for a bit, on and off the rest of my route. And it felt good! My body really liked the increase in intensity. Awesome.
I was thinking on my way home that maybe this knee problem is working in my favor. It seems that if I build my exercise repertoire I will have more options. More variety in my routine means that no one joint or set of muscles will be negatively affected by repetitive use. It could be a really good development.
In any case, I can't explain how good it felt for my body to actually WANT to run.
Home, fruit and yogurt for breakfast, cat time, then off to a coffee shop for quiet time. I went to a different one today, and they had decaf, so I enjoyed a café mocha. Nice. Good time of reading, thinking and praying, too.
I don't quite know how to hear from God concerning specific questions or decisions. One of the problems I guess is that I expect for the answer to just magically appear; complete and fully formed. I didn't get any of those today, but I do have a few steps forward that came to mind as I was praying.
One thing I know, I really want to make more time for extended Bible study. I am starting to feel like once a week isn't cutting it.
On a more down-to-earth note, sometimes when we sat on our couch in the "living room" we thought we smelled something bad, like something decaying. We looked and looked, even tore the couch apart today. But didn't see anything. Later, when Mr. was going into his study (just off of the living area) he let out an exclamation of surprise. It seems a wall lizard (about 3 inches from nose to tail tip) had gotten squashed in the door frame when someone closed study door. Don't know how long he had been there. Just goes to show that it doesn't pay to sleep in door frames.
We have been keeping that door closed more ever since the kitty chewed the internet wires a few weeks ago. I think I mentioned that the national who cleans for us inadvertently shut the cat IN last week, instead of out. So last night we had to go somewhere, and warned her to make sure the cat was not in the room when she shut the door. She said something about the cat being able to get in on her own, and we assured her the cat couldn't get in as long as the door was closed. But apparently she didn't believe us, because when we got home not only was the door closed, but also locked. :-( We panicked a little bit, because we were not completely sure where the keys were. We finally found them and got in, but it was a bit frustrating nonetheless. Last time I checked, cats do not know how to open doors. Sheesh.
