Well, quite a busy Saturday. I started off pushing, and
haven't stopped all day. I did some research on the Sabbath, and found out that
they (the Jews in the OT) called the day before the Sabbath "preparation
day". Yeah. It takes lots of preparation to rest. And I really want
tomorrow to be a pure rest day.
I don't think I quite pulled it off, though. Some things
remain to be done tomorrow.
It is complicated by the fact that I have taken on some
elder duties at the church. So, tomorrow we have a pot luck, I prepared a power
point presentation, and Mr. and I are going to have a short talk for the kids
during the service.
I was up early, got groceries, started our contribution for
the meal tomorrow cooking in the crock pot. I did two loads of laundry. I
finished the power point presentation. I washed dishes and did yoga and burned
photos onto a CD for another elder at the church. What else? I guess that's
about it. Went grocery shopping 3 separate times to get everything we need for
the pot luck.
The things that remain: print out little cards for the kids
to read out loud tomorrow, discuss with Mr. what we're actually going to say,
and design a business card.
Wish they were done.
Know what I really want to do tomorrow? Have quiet time with
God, study Hebrew, and make birthday cards. Gotta figure out how to make that
happen.
However, in all the busyness of today, God came and met me.
:-) In a very unexpected place. I was walking to a grocery store, and passed by
a little garden area. I don't give this little park much time of day, because
there's a huge statue of Ganesh, the Hindu elephant god with lots of arms. He's
supposed to bring good fortune and prosperity. Anyway, I'm not a fan.
But walking by today I was struck by a pot with little white
flowers in it, and a twisted tree trunk. I shot and shot, successfully avoiding
traffic and the big old elephant statue. It was a little spot of beauty; a
little spot of God in a very godless place. Thank You. I needed that.
OK. I haven't written about the cat for a while. I think
you're due. She really makes me laugh. Unfortunately, she continues to
frustrate the heck out of Mr. This morning we woke up to a "snowy"
kitchen, over half of the roll of paper towels shredded on the floor. :-(
So, her most recent quirky thing is to watch the washing
machine. Our washing machine is in a bathroom, and when it spins it drains out
through a hose onto the floor. This is not unusual. Almost every bathroom has a
drain in the floor. It's a really great idea, actually. Very practical. All the
bathrooms are tile, and you can just fling water all around, and it just drains
out. Nice.
Anyway, the kitty will crouch near the hose while the
washing machine is running, waiting for the water to drain out. Don't get me
wrong; she hates water. She comes running out in a panic if her paws get wet.
But as soon as we turn that washer on again, she's right back in there.
AND I just stopped typing, looked up, and there she was
hanging off of the curtain rod. A never-ending source of entertainment.
OK. I'm going to post. Maybe I'll get a bit more work done
tonight before bed. :-(
