nothing

So, today was kind of busy, but not remarkable. I went straight from one thing to another. There wasn't much time for reflecting or noticing. Even my photos are blah.

Regarding today's photo, I did see (and manage to capture) better examples of beauty than this, but the humor of this shot earned it a place in the blog. I realize she has no illusion that she's holding an umbrella. (It seems to be the skeleton of some sort of receiver dish or something.) But the way she's holding it makes it look like the worst umbrella in the world. Ha!

We were up early, noodle soup breakfast, talked to my sister and brother-in-law for 3 1/2 hours (yes, 3.5! hours!), Malaysian lunch, prep for teaching Sunday school (4 to 7 year olds!), to church, taught Sunday school, Mexican supper. Home, time wasting with facebook and James Bond. Now I'm blogging.

Nothing noteworthy.

(No offense to my sister, who reads this blog. The visit was great; we never have a hard time finding things to talk about. It's always wonderful to skype with them. But it wasn't anything earth-shattering. The most excitement was that we lost the sound a few times, had to end the call and try again.)

My one deep(ish) moment came after church. I glimpsed a woman with whom I'm acquainted across the sanctuary. She's a nice person, single, probably mid-40's. I caught sight of her during a conversation in which she was laughing. She looked so pleasant and even pretty. I wondered why it is that God gives some of us soul mates with whom to walk this life journey, and He doesn't choose to give that gift to others.

I don't know. Because He's God, I guess, and He knows best.

I bet "why" is a question God really gets tired of hearing. As if we could even begin understand all the complexities if He actually chose to give us an answer. He'd probably prefer to hear a lot more "OKs" than He does.
