Hot

It's just getting stinkin' hot here. We have a few weeks before we officially hit the hot season, and I'm already boiling.

It was so hot I decided to take a cyclo to the super market today, just to make life easier. (If you don't know what a cyclo is, google image it. You'll see lots of good photos of this 3-wheeled form of transportation.) But when I got to the old guy who waits at the end of our street, he said it was time for his lunch, and he pedaled off. :-( Come on! He had been sitting around waiting for business all morning!

So I walked. And sweated.

Saw a guy who was a bit crazy today at breakfast. I ate at the open-air sidewalk "café" that is close to our house. The owner actually picked up a stool and told him she would hit him if he didn't leave and stop bugging the customers. When I left I told her that my husband was coming to eat there soon, and he could help if the guy gave her any more trouble. She said he was drunk. It looked more like drugs to me.

Anyway, Mr. went about 15 minutes after I got home. (I had a skype date, and he was meeting friends there.) When he got back, I asked him if there had been any trouble with the disturbed guy. He said he didn't see him the whole time they were there eating, but just as he was leaving to come home, he saw the guy crossing the street. The guy was staggering around not looking at any of the traffic, which was desperately swerving and slowing to miss him. A big black Land Cruiser bumped him and knocked him over. He immediately got up and jumped onto the hood of the SUV, yelling and screaming. The truck just waited until the guy got off, and then drove away.

Yikes. They definitely give crazy a wide berth here.

I got to the "wet market" (the open air market with stalls of food) rather early today. I have "regular" vendors I usually use, but one of them wasn't there yet. So, I went somewhere else to buy garlic. To my surprise, I got twice as much garlic for the same price. When I asked a national friend if I got the right amount of product for the right amount of money, she said yes. She was afraid my "regular" was ripping me off. Disappointing. Might have to gradually develop a new regular.

I also clipped the kitty's front claws for the first time today. She was so good. I had never done it before, but she was very patient with me, and didn't fight the process too much. She did try to chew on the clippers a few times, but that's just to be expected.

Unfortunately, I sat on Mr.'s side of the bed while I was doing it, and left nail clippings on the sheets. I tried to brush them all away. Hope I got them all. Don't tell him!

He was a real sweetie about running errands today. There are 3 modern super markets here, with western-type food. I went to one to get kitty food and litter. He went to another to get stuff for supper, but they didn't have everything we needed. So, he went to the third one, too. He really doesn't mind coming and going multiple times. It would have driven me crazy.

Well, it's 9. I had a goal to get to bed by about 9, so I'm going to stop writing. It was a full, interesting, pretty good day. But bed will be nice.
