This is nothing new. My stomach issues continue. What is
different is that Mr. is sick today, too, much worse than I am. I am at least
still functional. His ailment has confined him to bed for the better part of
the day, with a few hurried trips to the bathroom now and then. :-(
So, by evening it was really a question of who was LESS
sick. That was me, so I pushed through, walking to the grocery store to get
crackers and ginger ale, making chicken soup that only got picked at. Mr. got
up just now and sipped some broth. So far it's staying down.
But, in spite of the tummy troubles, I managed to have a
pretty good day. I got up and had some great devotions. I love the surprise
when you're just reading through familiar, and a new verse or phrase jumps out
that is full of meaning that you somehow never saw before.
Then I did my day six exercise: yoga. Three weeks into the
"six days shalt thou exercise" loose-weight-before-you're-40 plan. I
have only missed one day so far.
Unfortunately there was a slight accident during this
morning's exercise. I had the yoga mat rolled out, starting the routine. After
a few standing poses, the video instructed me to step backwards for a
"downward dog" (nice, huh?). Well, I stretched one foot back as far
as I could, shifting my weight to it as I went, until I realized that the kitty
had decided my yoga mat was a nice place to stretch out for a nap. I stepped
right on her poor little belly. With a squeak she streaked out of the room. I
pursued her, trying to apologize and maybe check for injuries. (Like I'd really
know what internal bleeding looks like.)
Anyway, when I finally caught her, she squirmed out of my
arms, so I figured she was probably OK—although I still felt horrible and she
seemed uninterested in mending the relationship. So, I went back to yoga. I'm
glad to report that in the middle of another awkward pose (in which my heiney
was high up in the air, and my head somewhere near the floor) she came back
into the room, paused, licked my nose, and then jumped up into the window sill.
So I think all is forgiven.
Tonight she seems to have no ill effects from this morning's
mishap.
Anyway, housework, computer work, a run to the super marked
(first of two today). Then I had lunch with some friends (Mr. was supposed to
join, but had begun to feel lousy by that time, so I left him napping and went
it alone). Although I was tired, it was great to catch up with them. We had
lunch and kid time, and then when the little ones went down for a nap, the wife
and I went out for coffee (or in my case, white hot chocolate—yum!). Good, good
visit.
All that remains now is to
post this, clean up the kitchen, and hassle the kitty a little bit—who can't
figure out why we are being such a drag today. :-P
