Early breakfast. Bye to the kitty. A tuk-tuk (motorbike pulling a cart) ride, a plane ride, then a van ride. The beach. Supper. Pool time. Friends.

We are on vacation.

Spending this week with special friends who we have known ever since we arrived in SE Asia. We all lived in the same small provincial town for about 8 years, and really got close. It's a family, a single lady, and us. Even though we have all moved to different parts of the country since then, we have remained close.

This year, we are all bringing our ministries to a close, except the single lady. This trip is our last big thing together.

We were just discussing how odd it is to have such longevity in friendships in a profession that is known for transcience. Workers come and go so quickly and so frequently. Especially in this country, it seems. These are pretty special people.

We'll miss them.

But in the mean time, it's going to be a good week!

We arrived in the evening, so I will work hard to get good beach photos tomorrow to make you all jealous.  ;-)
